Ayurveda - The Science of Life

Ayurvedic Herbs

All of our courses, retreats,  treatments, thearpies and  cleansing & detox programs are based in the Ancient Tradition of Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old system of holistic healing the its roots deep in the Vedic culture of ancient India.

More than simply a system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life.  Its very name means Ayur = Life, Veda = Knowledge.  It offers a vast body of wisdom designed to help you stay vital while realizing your full potential.  Providing guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses, Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind & spirit.

Our Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner is here to guide you on a journey into health, happiness and spiritual wellbeing.

Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma

According to Ayurveda, molecules of emotion, such as anger, fear, sadness, jealousy, etc., are lipophilic, which means that they take safe haven and store in our fat cells, causing physical and emotional disturbances for years and years.  All of Monte Vista's Cleanses are designed to rid the body of these fat-soluble molecules of emotion, as well as detoxify all of the environmental toxins that hide in these cells.

We utilize the ancient wisdom of Panchakarma to detoxify body, mind and soul.  Our retreats are much more than a physical detox.  Through self-inquiry, quiet contemplation, meditation, breath work, yoga and more you will feel lighter, fresh and renewed.

We understand that not everyone can take the recommended 14 to 21 days off to cleanse and so we have designed our detox programs range from 3 to 14 days to accommodate your busy lifestyle.

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations

At Monte Vista, we offer daily Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Dietary Consultations for our guests as well as drop in visitors.  Our Certified Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner is available for consultations and supervises all of our Ayurvedic Detox Programs, retreats and therapies.

Ayurveda works on the principal of balance verses imbalance.  When a person is in balance he feels happy, healthy, alert, motivated and vibrant.  When a person is out-of-balance, he feels sad, anxious, fatigued, or even depressed.  In life, we are always moving in and out of balance. Your initial Ayurvedic Consultation will assess these imbalances, and direct you on a path back into balance.

Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy

According to Ayurveda, each one of us has an inborn constitution, or prakriti, that shapes our bodies, minds, and predilections. Most yoga teachers know at least a little about Ayurveda and have some notion of the basic constitutional typesc of kapha, pitta, and vata.  According to the Ayurvedic Practitioner Swami Sivananda, the Sanskrit word "dosha" literally means "that which becomes imbalanced." This reflects the Ayurvedic belief that people of different constitutions, left to their own devices, often make lifestyle decisions—and choose yoga practices—that tend to put them further out of balance. Ayurveda also holds that people of different constitutions are prone to diseases that reflect the ways the doshas become imbalanced.
